Struggling with balancing your blood sugar levels?
Dealing with hormonal issues, can’t lose weight, erratic energy levels going up and down?
Don’t worry, there are simple steps you can start applying today to get a hold of it! But first, you have to understand a few things:
.
As mentioned in my previous post about insulin, when we eat carbohydrates, they are digested into glucose, in which signals to our pancreas to secrete insulin so that glucose can enter our cells for energy later. But understand this, too much blood sugar as well as too little in our blood stream can cause the body to freak a bit.
For instance, if we raise our blood sugar too high, our pancreas is forced to shoot out more insulin in which usually creates a cascade of unwanted symptoms such as irritability, nausea, fatigue, and even frequent thirst and urination. Keep in mind, the more insulin, the more our cells are absorbing glycogen for energy, which as a result can turn into fat, and of course, unnecessary weight gain. If this cycle comes often, it can lead to things like insulin resistance of type 2 diabetes.
On the flip side, once insulin spikes high, it will come crashing down, and this very taxing on the body. We end feeling fatigued, shaky, “hangry”, and due to the lack of glycogen to provide energy, our bodies kick into high gear and start secreting cortisol to rev us up. This reaction is very stressful on the body, and of course, can lead to a cycle of uncontrollable cravings, unpredictable energy levels and more.
