How Fructose is Beneficial for Your Metabolism

🍒Ever heard that fruit has too much sugar in it?
That fruit makes you fat?
Yeah, there is more to it than that.
.
🍊Fructose is a type of sugar found in fruit and root vegetables and is particularly interesting when compared to other sugars, for it does not require an insulin spike. It enters the blood stream right away, thus enters the cell more easily without dysregulating one’s blood sugar levels. This has been shown to help improve insulin sensitivity when compared to other forms of carbohydrates that contains higher levels of glucose like grains. Glucose requires an insulin spike, which isn’t always a bad thing, it’s just it is a bit stressful on the body for it to constantly go up and drop several times a day.
.
🍍With the ease of entering the cell, fructose has been shown to be more beneficial in thyroid health, for it is directly absorbed into the liver, which helps with energy production. If you’ve been following, the liver is the prime location where most of your inactive thyroid hormone, T4, is transformed into active thyroid hormone, T3. With energy more readily available, this can help increase the metabolism and overall thermogenic effect.
REMEMBER: fruit is rich in potassium, an essential mineral that is responsible for sensitizing cells to uptake thyroid hormone.
.
🍉BUT FRUIT IS BAD.
No. No it’s not.
The association of fruit making you gain weight is because you have an inability to use and store energy properly from carbohydrates. This is not a “fructose is bad” issue. This is a “your metabolism needs help” issue.
.
🍐Most people who end up struggling with fruit or root vegetables is usually because of four things:
1. They are eating too low carb
2. They are not eating the right type of carbs
3. They are eating too low calorie
4. They are eating the wrong type of fats
