Ever thought that maybe your candida issue is linked to your histamine issues?
Check this out: symptoms of both candida and high histamines are very similar such as sinus congestion, gut issues, food sensitivities, achy joints, headaches, mood disorders, skin issues…
well, in some cases, candida can exacerbate histamine intolerance and vice versa.
How?
.
Well, for starters, if candida multiplies in the gut it can create and release histamines due to the inflammation present. Your body’s reaction is to try and get this infection out. Here is a refresh on candida.
As it multiplies, it can release mycotoxins and its own alcohol in the bloodstream that can result in this feeling of being hungover. Despite no alcohol consumption, this reaction can cause a flare up in symptoms with individuals dealing with either or issue of histamine and/or candida.
.
Conversely, candida can decrease your body’s ability to break down histamines by reducing that DAO enzyme we mentioned HERE within the gut lining. This isn’t good, because then our bodies have trouble downregulating our histamine reactions, hence why we feel so terrible from the mycotoxins.
.
Question now is, WHAT IS THE CONNECTION?
-Estrogen dominance (which can be linked to liver, PUFAs, heavy metals)
-Antibiotics/birth control/other medication
-Mineral deficiencies, particularly copper or iron overload
-Leaky gut
-Stress
And yet all of these things have in one thing in common: slow metabolism. Remember, your metabolism is the rate in which cells uptake and use energy. If it’s slow, you lack the ability to get nutrients properly, react to pathogens, have the strength to fight off weaknesses and produce enzymes, hormones and more.
