How Iron Can F*** Your Hormones

WHY SHOULD YOU CARE ABOUT IRON OVERLOAD AND YOUR HORMONES?
So for those that have been following READ THIS FIRST, you might just be like “Okay, we might have  a bit of iron in tissues, but what does this have to do with my hormones????”
A lot.
.
So let’s review some important key points:
Your metabolism is the rate in which your cells utilize and how successfully they uptake energy. Your cells make hormones for other cells so they can communicate with one another. In order for them to produce hormones, they need enzymatic reactions. These enzymatic reactions require minerals to be balanced so they can get successfully function. This is why minerals are so dang important.
.
Now, when we don’t have the basics, such as proper adrenal and liver function which are run by potassium, sodium, vitamin C, antioxidants, amino acids, b vitamins, as well as adequate copper, magnesium and retinol, we are at risk of accumulating iron in the tissues.
When iron starts to accumulate in the tissues, vitamin E can start to deplete. If vitamin E is downregulated, we can end up with elevated estrogen levels. In fact, this nutrient has oestrogenic, androgenic and progesterone-like properties to help balance hormonal levels.
.
Estrogen rises in cases involving inflammation, and vitamin E is usually meant to decrease it.
According to Dr.Ray Peat, elevated estrogen can cause a multitude of issues in the absence of vitamin E such as weakened capillaries, an increase of platelet aggregation, excess clotting leading to fibrosis, an increase in prostaglandins which can cause painful and heavy menstrual cycles (or terrible PMS), as well as the increase in intracellular calcium (which can cause hypercalcemia). In essence, estrogen is a hormone of GROWTH, and this can even lead to things such as cancer.
.
Ironically enough, vitamin E is present in nearly every food that contains polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), and if you have been following along, too many PUFAs in the diet can lead to cell growth, just like estrogen aka driving up the cells to uptake water and inducing inflammation and releasing free radicals in the system.
.
THIS is why we shouldn’t be ingesting all of these rancid fish oils or cooking in highly unstable vegetable oils because these extractions do not contain vitamin E.
.
If this type of stress is put onto the body, our metabolism slows down (Including our iron RES), leaving us susceptible to pathogens which are fed by iron, which can cause the body to store iron in the tissues, and here we go all around again.
