Acne And Your Gut

You’ve heard it before, your acne is related to your gut issues.
Okay, but what are the gut issue and how do you fix it?
I am here to explain⬇️

In many cases, the gut issues people are referring to is leaky gut which is when the tight junctions between our gut lining and cells are more open than they should be and can “leak” in pathogens, bacteria, food particles, etc. If they enter, this can irritate us and even instigate an inflammatory response as bacteria release something called endotoxins, also known as lipopolysaccharides (LPS).
As LPS release toxins, they stimulate the immune system and cause inflammation, which is a direct stress on the microbiome. This has been shown to be correlated to an increase of sebum production in the skin, thus an influx of acne.

BUT HOLD UP⚠️
What even causes leaky gut in the first place?
Leaky gut is the RESULT of a suppressed metabolism due to a stressor such as mental stress, under eating, over exercising, blood sugar dysregulation, poor diet, medication and environmental toxins.

When the system is under stress, our bodies will prioritize what type of functions we need to survive to conserve energy. Stress can deplete certain gut functions that actually help protect our gut’s integrity such as:
🔹️Production of stomach acidity
🔹️Production of digestive enzymes
🔹️Production of bile
.
This ain’t good because:
🔹️Stomach acidity is supposed to help digest our food and break down food particles that can irritate the lining. It also helps burn through pathogens that can be harmful to us.
🔹️Digestive enzymes help us further break down food that can be irritating to the gut.
🔹️Bile binds to endotoxins, keeping the small intestine clear from bacterial overgrowths.
.
WHEN THESE THINGS GO, THEN LEAKY GUT HAPPENS.
So in order to get to the root cause on as to WHY your gut has been damaged, you need to figure out what caused the metabolism to be hampered down in the first place.
.
Buuut in the mean time, I know you’ll be asking how do I heal my gut?
The 5 R’s:
Remove the irritants/infections
Replace lost production of enzymes, stomach acidity, etc.
Reinoculate the microbiome
Repair the gut lining
Refeed body
