Causes of insulin resistance

Think it’s just progesterone and estrogen when trying to regain a healthy cycle?

Balancing blood sugar

How insulin affects hormones
.
Two posts ago I spoke about waking up in the middle of the night to pee because you may not have enough glycogen stores in your liver. Conversely, that is not the only thing that can affect your blood sugar.
.
So what should you look out for?
1️⃣Do you have SIBO, candida, or any other type of overgrowth? Too much of the wrong strains of bacteria can lead to the production of too much LPS leaking through the gut lining and causing inflammation, which can deter our gut from assimilating nutrients and balancing our blood sugar
2️⃣Check in on your liver and if it is getting enough carbs to function, amino acids, minerals, antioxidants, or if it is detoxing properly. Remember the liver produces, stores and releases glucose depending on the body’s needs
3️⃣Are you eating low carb or low protein? You need carbs for energy, and protein to balance things out
4️⃣ Minerals are like the battery charges to your cells, hence if they are off, your cells deal with miscommunication. Magnesium is required for your cells to uptake insulin properly, potassium and sodium are the primary minerals that balance the adrenals. Plus, our pancreas cannot work without these three
5️⃣ Stresses like undereating, over exercising, or mental stress can all impact our blood sugar levels. Our stress hormones rise and drive the need for fuel, and if we’re not providing enough, our body will search for it in our fat cells, which releases free fatty acids and block our cell’s ability to stabilize glucose
6️⃣Hypothyroidism can deter your cells from uptaking energy, for the poor conversion of T4 to T3 would mean your cells lack enough T3 (aka cell food)
7️⃣Connecting to the previous point, estrogen dominance, or low progesterone, is anti thyroid, which in turn can affect our insulin just the same.
8️⃣Is your diet on point? Are you eating oxidized oils like canola, safflower, soy, etc., that can affect your capability to uptake glucose in your cells, or not the right carbs?
